The Band - The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down (via Tillbe)
It’s been a while since our last post. Apologies for the delay.
The office - as part of our one book one blog program - just finished reading Music From The Big Pink, part of the 33 1/3 series.
It’s really bad.
The Band, however, isn’t. Celebrated more by critics and peers than the general public, the Band perfected country rock while expanding the American song book. And my God, they can sing. And play. Phil Collins is a singer/drummer forever eclipsed by Levon Helm.
This song is triumphant in the hardest way.
